1. Community feel

Big cities can be great and bustling but it's all too easy to feel isolated and lonely as well. Living in, or near a small town, gives you a great sense of community. It's great to bump into friends out and about, as well as knowing where's best for coffee, lunch, and a day out without being bombarded by too much choice.

2. Great local businesses

Barnsley Markets are second to none, providing everything you could ever possibly need at great, competitive prices. As well as the indoor market, the outdoor markets are on daily rotation from lovely local boutique stalls to a vintage bric-a-brac theme every Tuesday. Barnsley also boasts many independent shops.

3. Beautiful countryside

You only have to drive five minutes out of town to access to the amazing and beautiful Yorkshire countryside. Walks in places such as Rabbit Ings Country Park and on the Dove Valley Trail are great for the family, as well as exploring the beautiful Pennine villages.

4. Get more house for your money!
