About: 1,000 runners taking part in this momentous race around Barnsley! Road closures will be in place for this event (see the link below for more details).

Where? Wortley Hall (open in Google maps)
About: A fantastic event for the whole family including bouncy castles, face painting, classic games and of course over 150 vintage and classic vehicles including cars, bikes, tractors and more! Free to attend for those wishing to show off their vintage cars. £5 entry for adults, £2 for children. Organised by the Wortley Rotary Club. Those wishing to bring their cars can turn up between 9.30am and 10.30am.

About: To commemorate the conclusion of the Eldon Street HSHAZ project, we are hosting a day brimming with enjoyable activities on and around Eldon Street. You can partake in:
When? 12th to 14th July 2024. Friday from 6pm. Saturday and Sunday from 1pm.

About: Wortley Beer Festival is a festival of real ale, cider, music and food, held at the start of July each year. Offering live entertainment, free kids play area and dozens of beers, ciders and gins from all over the UK (but the best ones are from Yorkshire, obviously). This year the date falls on the day of the Euros 2024 Finals so you'll be able to watch England play on a big screen at the festival ;)

About: With Brassed On, Barnsley Pride, What’s Your Move? and more all taking place over the same weekend you won’t want to leave Barnsley town centre! The town centre will have plenty of free, family-friendly entertainment and activities.

About: A BRAND NEW OUTDOOR CAMP! Starting the 23rd of July and running every TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY during the 6-week holidays. Includes Archery, Axe throwing, Den Building, Air Rifle and so much more! For kids aged 10+ Free Places & Paid Places ( £20 a day ) including a meal. 9.30am while 2.30pm

About: Perfect for kids of all ages, this event is set to be the summer's big hit, packed with nonstop fun and exciting activities in a lively and safe setting. Feating giant bouncy castles, obstacle courses and MEG slides! Open 9am to 4pm. Tickets cost £4.

About: The hall opens its doors to provide Union, Campaign & Charity information stands, gift, craft and garden stalls to browse, plus BBQ, outdoor bar & refreshments will all be available. There is a program of FREE entertainment for all the family including live music, dancers, bouncy castles, face painting, children’s activities and much more! ADMISSION IS FREE. Car parking is £3 per car with all proceeds going to charities & Wortley Hall restoration fund.

About: If you love animals, then you are going to love this show. A show dedicated to and celebrating all creatures great and small. The only show around that you get to see Life-sized crocodiles, Sloths, Reindeer, dinosaurs, penguins, Orangutans and maybe even a spraying skunk bursting out onto the stage right before your very eyes. Tickets are £16.

About: The cheeky little piggy will be making appearances at intervals on September 7 and 8 – so have your cameras ready and bring your little ones for a perfect family day out. Seeing Peppa comes at no extra cost – it's all included in your farm admission. To make things easier for families, you'll be given a time slot to help us stagger visits and manage queues (though some queueing is to be expected at such an event).

Eldon Street Heritage Action Zone Celebration Event

About: To commemorate the conclusion of the Eldon Street HSHAZ project, we are hosting a day brimming with enjoyable activities on and around Eldon Street. You can partake in:
- Eldon-themed family crafts in the Library at the Lightbox
- Street performers and entertainment
- A silent disco featuring songs written by Simon Armitage and LYR, all inspired by Eldon Street
- A complimentary cinema screening at the Parkway Cinema, showcasing films about Eldon Street, followed by a screening of Calendar Girls
